'Genes direct: ensuring the effective oversight of genetic tests supplied directly to the public: report of the Human Genetics Commission' recommends stricter controls on direct genetic testing (ie private paid-for testing), but does not believe that there should be a statutory ban on direct genetic tests.
'Investigation of events that followed the death of Cyril Mark Isaacs' This report was instigated by the events that took place following the death of Mr Cyril Isaacs on 26 February 1987, and the post mortem examination that was carried out the following day at Prestwich Hospital mortuary on the instructions of the Coroner.
'Together from the start: practical guidance for professionals working with disabled children (birth to third birthday) and their families' is guidance issued jointly by the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Health, is concerned with the delivery of services to disabled children and their families. Central themes within the guidance are: initial assessment of need; co-ordination of multi-agency support for families; better information and access for families; improved professional knowledge and skills; service review and development; and partnership across agencies and geographical boundaries.

'Prevention of low birth weight: assessing the effectiveness of smoking cessation and nutritional interventions: summary' is a summary of evidence that aims to identify smoking cessation and nutrition interventions shown to be effective in preventing low birth weight and is intended to inform policy and decision makers, NHS providers, public health physicians and other public health practitioners in the widest sense.
Its partner publication 'Prevention of low birth weight: assessing the effectiveness of smoking cessation and nutritional interventions: evidence briefing' looks at the subject in greater depth.
Home Office Grey Literature
'Average Time from Arrest to Sentence for Persistent Young Offenders: January 2003' gives overall national figures for arrest to sentence, as well as figures for the Magistrates Court and Crown Court separately. On a quarterly basis, the figures are further broken down by criminal justice areas.
HM Treasury Grey Literature
'Futurebuilders: an investment fund for voluntary and community sector public service delivery: proposals for consultation' which follows Government is commitment to creating a framework in which the voluntary and community sector can flourish, be strong and independent. futurebuilders is a one-off £125 million investment fund, over the three years of Spending Review 2002, specifically to assist voluntary and community sector providing organisations in their public service work. Firstly, it sought to assess the effects of the February 1999 changes to the Right to Buy discount regime. Secondly, it sought to provide a better understanding of the factors influencing people's ability and willingness to pay. Thirdly, it examined the impact of possible changes to the discount rules on sales over the decade 2001-02 to 2011-12 using a simple forecasting model.

This survey provides a comprehensive picture, across the whole of English local government, of the approaches local authorities are taking, and the challenges they face, in the implementation of e-government.
